The American Enterprise Institute recently released an interesting map comparing every state in the United States' GDP to other various countries throughout the world (shown above). South Carolina is shown having a comparable GDP to the entire country of Portugal. In 2017, South Carolina had a GDP of $219.1 Billion (26th in the US), which was slightly higher than Portugal's GDP of $218.1 Billion.
